REGISTER FOR THE AACB 50TH ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE - REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

We have heard much about standardisation of assays over recent years. Great strides have been made. What assays can be harmonised and/or standardised to produce comparable reference intervals and critical limits, standardised terminology, units and best practice methodology to improve clinical outcomes?

This is the underlying thrust of the AACB’s meeting in Melbourne which will run from THURSDAY 15 November to SUNDAY 18 November. “Harmonisation, a strategic priority for everyone”, is also an ongoing project of the AACB and the RCPA in a Quality Pathology initiative called “Harmonisation of Laboratory Testing”.

The Melbourne meeting has been split into four themed days including; Harmonisation Day, Harm Minimisation Day, Hormonal Day and Disharmony Day and features both international and local speakers. I refer you to the line-up of speakers for a truly Global perspective. I thank all our speakers for participating and I invite YOU to join us on our journey towards Quality Pathology.

A satellite meeting, “Method Harmonisation”, will be held on Monday 19 November and will include the theory and practice of method harmonisation, standardisation and traceability.

The Conference will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in the heart of Melbourne next to the Yarra River. The Conference Dinner will be held at the National Gallery of Victoria on the Saturday evening of the meeting.

As part of the exhibition we have included an Industry Exhibition Passport. Registrants will receive a business card holder, provided by IVD Australia, to collect (& retain for later use!) business cards from all exhibitors.  We hope this will act as a PASSPORT to your future interactions and requirements. Our Sponsors make meetings like this possible and we are thankful for their ongoing support.

On behalf of the President and Council of the AACB I cordially invite YOU to register for our 50th Annual Conference. I thank the Scientific and Organising Committees for composing such an attractive program and I hope that you will engage with us as we strive for continued excellence.

Marcus Hall
Chair Central Conference Organising Committee.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - NOW OPEN

The AACB 2012 Scientific Organising Committee is pleased to invite the submission of abstracts for presentation at the AACB 50th Annual Scientific Conference.
Abstracts are invited from all areas in and around clinical biochemistry to present as an oral or poster presentation. While the AACB encourages the submission of abstracts from all areas related to clinical biochemistry, this year we would particularly like to encourage the submission of abstracts related to the Conference theme, "towards global harmonisation".

The initiative of harmonisation in laboratory testing is currently a primary focus for the international laboratory medicine community particularly in clinical biochemistry. The AACB strongly supports this initiative and promotes harmonisation activities in Australia and New Zealand. Some of the areas recognised by the AACB where harmonisation would be beneficial area:

  • Harmonised Reference Intervals and Decision Limits
  • Critical Limits
  • Standardisation of Pathology Terminology and Units
  • Best practice methodology for selection and adoption of laboratory guidelines for local use in Australia.

MEET OUR SPONSORS & EXHIBITORS

Our Sponsors and Exhibitors make meetings like this possible and we thank them for their ongoing support.  The industry exhibition is a major component of the conference and we encourage delegates to visit all booths during the four days. This year there will be an 'Exhibition Passport' where all fully registered delegates will be provided with a business card folder, kindly sponsored by IVD Australia. Business cards and stamps will need to be collected over the four days and prizes will be drawn on Sunday during morning tea.
