Oral Sessions, Poster Sessions & Prizes
Oral Presentations
Accepted Oral presentations will presented on Wednesday 27 October 2010, from 1545-1715 (90min). Each session will consist of 6 speakers, and each speaker will be allocated 10 min of presentation plus approximately 3 minutes of question and answer time. Two minutes has been allocated for the chairperson's introduction.AACB Oral Prizes (The ‘Roche Young Presenters Prize’ (for those presenters 30yrs and under) and the ‘Roche Oral Presentation Prize’). These prizes are open to AACB members who submit an abstract for the AACB oral presentation.
An AIMS First Time Presenter Award will be awarded for the AIMS categories, to a first time presenter of a submitted paper for oral presentation. This prize is open to AIMS members who submit an abstract for the AIMS oral presentation.
Poster Presentations
Posters will be on display during the conference. Presenters will be required to be at their posters at designated times to answer questions from delegates. Details will be provided once abstracts are accepted. The Poster size is limited to 1m wide and 1m high.An AACB poster prize will be awarded by Roche for the AACB categories. The ‘Roche Poster Prize’ will be presented for the best poster. This prize is open to AACB members who submit a poster.

** NEW ** POSTER 'HOT TOPIC' SESSIONS
Authors of selected posters will be invited to make a short PowerPoint presentation (max 5 slides) of 5 minutes in the 'Hot Topics Corner'. These 'Hot Topic' sessions will run for 30minutes (providing 6 presentations) during the lunch break on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Further details will be advised once abstracts have been accepted.
The 'Hot Topics Corner' will be in the exhibition hall.
ORAL AND POSTER AWARDS
AACB Oral and Poster Prizes – sponsored by Roche Diagnostics Australia
Roche Diagnostics Australia will award $1000 to the best ‘Young Presenter Oral Presentation’ (open to members 30yrs & under), the best ‘Oral Presentation’ and the ‘Best Poster’ for the AACB categories. Prizes are open to AACB Members only submitting an abstract for the AACB categories.Eligibility:
Only oral abstracts accepted for the AACB oral presentations will be eligible for the Roche best ‘Oral Presentation’. Those presenters 30yrs and under will be eligible for the Roche ‘Young Presenter Oral Presentation’. These will be judged by the AACB Scientific Program Committee on the day of presentations.
Only posters accepted for an AACB poster will be eligible for the Roche ‘Best Poster’. These will be judged by the Scientific Program Committee during the conference.
Prizes are open to AACB members only.
AIMS First Time Presenter Awards (Closing Date: 1 June 2010)
Two awards of $1000 each will be made to first time presenters at the AIMS NSM. The applicants may have presented at a local or divisional level, but not at a National or International meeting. One award will be given to a first time presenter of a submitted paper for an oral presentation, and one award will be given to a first time presenter of a poster. These are open to AIMS members only submitting an abstract for the AIMS categories.
Applicants should submit a copy of the abstract to AIMS National Office, together with the appropriate application form and a draft of the presentation in PowerPoint format for the oral presentation and as a PDF or PowerPoint slide for the poster. Only abstracts accepted in the AIMS categories for the Conference will be eligible for the scholarship. It is probable that applicants submitting abstracts may not have been advised of the acceptance or otherwise of their abstract at the time of submitting their application. The application should be submitted regardless; judging of this award will not take place until acceptance of abstracts has been confirmed.
Eligibility: Applicants must be members of AIMS at the time of the application, and must have held membership for at least six months at that time. Affiliate, retained or student members are not eligible to apply.
Conditions of Award: The successful applicants must be available to attend the National Scientific Meeting in Perth. AIMS reserves the right not to make an award in either category.
Application: Applications must be on the appropriate application form, which can be downloaded from the link below and is also available on the AIMS website – www.aims.org.au. Applications should be lodged electronically as an attachment to email to jnoble@aims.org.au . Late applications will not be accepted.
